Expansion for exploding kittens
Allows 6 players
Includes human sized cone of shame
I found this expansion to be a really great addition to the base game. While only 20 cards are included, there is enough there to actually change the game considerably. While it might be expensive at £15, I found it to be worthwhile for anyone who loved the original game. For my review of 'Exploding Kittens', check it out here.
Instructions
The instruction manual included was pretty much the same size as the one Exploding kittens. It answered all questions and made learning about the new expansion really fast. It only took a quick skim of it to understand exactly how to play. Although if you know how to play exploding kittens, this expansion follows the same rules so you will already know how to play.
Cards:
This expansion comes with 20 new cards. While 20 cards doesn't seem like much, it is more than enough to change the game a lot. The cards appeared very prominently throughout the deck and each individual one was interesting and added greatly to the game. It was nice to add a bit of variation to the base game with new cards. Although it did make the game last longer with more cards but I didn't see that as a drawback! All the new cards included were: Imploding kitten, Draw from the bottom, Reverse, Feral cat, Alter the future and Targeted Attack.
One of coolest added cards was the 'Imploding Kitten' card. This card, when drawn is put back in the deck face-up. That gives people a bit of warning when it is approaching but if there is nothing you can do about it when it is at the top, not even a diffuse can save you. This card was a very clever expansion and I found it really fun to play with.
Cone of shame:
I have to say this was the best part of the the expansion. While all the other cards were cool, this was ingenius and made the game really funny to play. The way it works is that the first person to ask whose turn it is is condemned to wear the cone for the rest of the game. It can be annoying to wear but it is really funny to look at. This is one item we always played with in every game.
As for the quality of the cone in case it breaks, it is made out of a good-quality plastic and is sure to last well. It uses velcro to seal it around your neck. It works really well and I'm personally really happy they added an item like this to the game.
Divider:
For the other added item in this expansion, it will only be useful to you if you purchased the original version before they updated the box. Basically you put it in your exploding kittens pack to separate the card from each other. I had no use for it as I had a more recent variant of the exploding kittens game but it may be of benefit to you.
Replay ability:
The idea of this expansion is to add more replay ability to the game and it dos well. As I mentioned, it only has 20 extra cards but it changes it enough to be worthwhile. We found it easy to play over and over compared to the original version on its own.
Price:
For £15, I cant say that this is the cheapest game available but if you already have the original exploding kittens, this is a must-have for you. Even though it only includes 20 cards and 2 bonuses, they are all of high quality and worth every penny. I find it easy to recommend this pack to add some change to your original exploding kittens.
